About the Author

Welcome to Andreas’ Blog, a space where I ponder life’s challenges and strive for personal growth, for both you and me. If you’re reading this blog, hopefully you can relate to the reflections that I share on this site, and through writing these I get to think about them deeply.

Around 21 years old, a whole new world opened for me when my brother shared a book with me ‘7 Habits of Highly Effective People’ – my first sparetime non-fiction read. This book afforded me new perspectives and sparked a deep, ongoing passion for understanding myself better, and how I related to my surroundings.

Growing up on a farm, I was highly influenced by traditional values imparted by my parents. Earning my Master’s Degree in Finance allowed me to be challenged, and opened up my curiosity within academia. Despite this achievement, I felt there was still a part of my curiosity, which was not being stimulated. I found that non-fictional books and, later, insightful podcasts were great remedies for me. Thus, I’m constantly exploring untouched material.

Reading has become a cornerstone of my day to day. I’m drawn to non-fiction works that challenge my thinking and inspire growth. Some of my favorites include:

  • 12 Rules for Life by Jordan Peterson
  • Outlive by Peter Attia
  • Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl
  • Extreme Ownership by Jocko Willink
  • Elon Musk by Walter Isaacson
  • Factfulness by Hans Rosling
  • Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari

This quest for self-discovery and understanding fuels my desire to improve daily. I’ve embraced various sports over the past few years, including distance running (half marathons), CrossFit, swimming, and cycling. Each activity has the common denominator that I try constantly to move the needle for each of them.

However, the path to self-awareness is not without its struggles. I often find myself deeply introspective and hard on myself, even when performing at a respectable or high level. This relentless pursuit of self-knowledge can be both a blessing and a challenge. In the long run though, it is truly meaningful, which makes it worth the burden.

I find immense meaning in giving, improving, and adding value to the world. Through this blog, I aim to share my reflections and insights, hoping to inspire and connect with others on their own journeys of understanding both themselves and the dynamics of the world we live in better.
